A police officer was hospitalized in critical condition following a severe collision with an 18-wheeler truck on Sukhumvit Road in Bang Lamung early Thursday morning.
On September 18, 2026, at approximately 3:40 AM, a serious traffic accident occurred on Sukhumvit Road near the Wave Inn U-turn in Bang Lamung, Chonburi. According to reports from Khaosod Online, a white Toyota Altis driven by a police officer, identified as Police Captain Tharathorn, collided with the rear of an 18-wheeler truck.
The impact left the sedan severely damaged, trapping the officer behind the steering wheel. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and medical teams from Pattaya Pattamakun Hospital utilized hydraulic rescue equipment to extract the victim from the wreckage. The officer was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the 18-wheeler stated that the area was poorly lit at the time of the incident. Personal items, including a service firearm and cash, were found scattered outside the vehicle following the crash.
