Thai Government Plans New Economic Stimulus for Year-End
Deputy Prime Minister Supajee Suthumpun announced that the government is preparing new economic stimulus packages for the final quarter of 2026 following the extension of the 'Thai Helps Thai Plus' program.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthumpun confirmed that the Thai government is developing new economic stimulus measures to support the economy during the final three months of 2026. This initiative follows the recent two-month extension of the 'Thai Helps Thai Plus' program.
Addressing concerns regarding the U.S. Federal Reserve’s recent decision to raise interest rates by 0.25%—the first such increase in three years—Supajee stated that the Ministry of Commerce is actively monitoring domestic commodity prices to ensure they remain stable and are not adversely affected by global financial shifts. While the Ministry of Commerce oversees price controls, Supajee noted that matters concerning national interest rate policies fall under the purview of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas.
For residents and travelers, these upcoming measures are intended to maintain economic momentum as the year concludes. The government is currently coordinating across various ministries to ensure a comprehensive approach to the year-end economic outlook. Specific details regarding the nature and scope of these new stimulus packages remain under discussion and have yet to be finalized. Further announcements are expected as the government evaluates the broader economic landscape.
