On September 17, 2026, the Pattaya City Council approved a budget of 9,665,000 baht for the installation of 141 additional CCTV cameras across the city. According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the project was proposed by Deputy Mayor Damrongkiat Pinitkarn during the first ordinary session of the city council for the year 2026.
The initiative, managed by the Communications Division under the Office of Strategy and Budget, aims to increase surveillance coverage at intersections and within community areas. The primary objective is to strengthen crime prevention efforts and improve overall security for both local residents and tourists visiting the popular coastal city. City Council member Wasan Sukhee noted that this expansion aligns with the city's ongoing 'Smart City' policy, which seeks to utilize technology to ensure the effective monitoring of public spaces.
