Prachin Buri Residents Petition Ministry of Interior Over Investigation into Village Headman
A network of local activists has requested the Ministry of Interior to review the Prachin Buri Governor's decision to investigate a village headman who participated in protests against EEC expansion.
On September 17, 2026, representatives from the Rak Lum Nam Phra Prong and Prachin Khem Khaeng networks visited the Ministry of Interior in Bangkok to submit a formal petition. The group is seeking a review of the Prachin Buri Governor’s decision to appoint a committee to investigate Mr. Praphat Raksri, the headman of Bo Thong sub-district in Kabin Buri district.
The investigation was reportedly initiated following an anonymous complaint alleging that the headman failed in his duties by participating in a public forum opposing the expansion of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The activist groups argue that the headman’s participation was a legitimate exercise of his constitutional rights to protect his community. They have requested that the Ministry of Interior order a suspension or termination of the disciplinary inquiry.
