Thailand Launches 'Data ConneX' to Become a Clinical Research Hub
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation has partnered with eight medical schools to launch the 'Data ConneX' project, aiming to elevate Thailand's clinical research capabilities.
On September 17, 2026, Prof. Dr. Yoschanan Wongsawad, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), announced the advancement of the 'Data ConneX' project. This initiative involves a strategic collaboration with eight medical schools and six universities to utilize clinical data for the advancement of medical research and public health in Thailand.
According to Khaosod Online, the project aims to position Thailand as a regional hub for clinical research and testing, which is expected to attract international investment and generate significant economic value. The meeting included representatives from the Cliniser Company, data governance committees, and various government officials, including Assistant Minister Danuporn Punnakanta.
For residents and expatriates, this development signals a long-term commitment to improving the nation's healthcare infrastructure and medical innovation ecosystem. While the initiative focuses on research and economic growth, it may eventually lead to improved medical technologies and healthcare services available within the country.
