On the morning of September 17, 2026, a dangerous traffic incident occurred at an intersection near the Samut Songkhram Provincial Police Station. According to a report by Khaosod Online, a six-wheel truck sped through a red light at approximately 7:15 a.m., narrowly missing a group of students and motorcyclists who had just begun moving on a green light.
Police officer J.S.T. Jirayu Wongbupha, who witnessed the event while on duty, immediately pursued the vehicle and intercepted the driver. The driver claimed they attempted to accelerate through a yellow light but were unable to stop in time. Due to the severity of the risk posed to the public during the morning rush hour, authorities issued the maximum fine of 4,000 THB for the traffic violation.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the importance of extreme caution at intersections, particularly during school drop-off hours when student traffic is high.
