Volunteer Killed While Managing Wild Elephant Conflict in Chachoengsao

On September 16, 2026, a volunteer leader responsible for monitoring and driving wild elephants away from residential areas in Tha Kradan, Chachoengsao province, was killed during an encounter with a wild elephant. The victim, who also served as a member of the Tha Kradan Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), was performing his duties to ensure community safety when the incident occurred.

Following the tragedy, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin expressed his condolences, praising the volunteer’s bravery and dedication. The Ministry has directed the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation to provide 1 million baht in compensation to the victim's family.
