Stock Exchange of Thailand Targets New Economy Firms for Future IPOs
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is actively courting over 10 'New Economy' and 'New S-Curve' companies to list on the exchange, offering fee reductions and long-term support.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has initiated a strategic push to attract more than 10 companies operating within the 'New Economy' and 'New S-Curve' sectors. SET President Asadej Kongsiri stated that the exchange is preparing to engage with these firms starting this year to encourage them to raise capital through public listings.
To facilitate this transition, the SET plans to implement a five-year support program, which includes reducing fees and assisting with IPO-related expenses. While the exchange is actively courting these businesses, officials noted that the earliest a company from this group might complete its initial public offering is toward the end of 2027.
For residents and expatriates, this initiative signals a potential shift in the local investment landscape, as the SET aims to diversify the market beyond traditional industries. While this move could lead to a more dynamic stock market, it remains to be seen which specific companies will commit to the process and whether the proposed incentives will successfully attract the targeted firms. Investors and observers should monitor future announcements from the SET to confirm which entities eventually proceed with their listing plans.
