Thailand Sees 10.43% Surge in Intellectual Property Filings
Thailand's Department of Intellectual Property reports a significant rise in IP applications during the first eight months of 2026, with foreign entities dominating high-tech patents.
According to data released by the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP), Thailand experienced a 10.43% increase in intellectual property (IP) applications during the first eight months of 2026, totaling 53,794 requests. The department also confirmed that registrations grew by 7.88%, reaching 39,096 items.
Notably, petty patents saw a robust growth of 18.54%. While Thai universities have emerged as major contributors to these filings, the DIP highlighted that foreign entities currently hold 87% of patents related to advanced innovation.
