Thai Ministry of Agriculture Proposes 350 Million Baht Budget to Combat Blackchin Tilapia

The ministry is currently reviewing a proposal to utilize approximately 350 million baht from the central budget to coordinate efforts across 29 different agencies, ranging from policy-level administration to on-the-ground implementation.

This initiative focuses on seven key measures, including the systematic eradication, control, and research of the species, as well as exploring methods to utilize the fish that have already been captured. The Department of Fisheries noted that significant efforts have been underway since February 2, 2024, with operations continuing through August 27, 2026.
