Thai SME Fund Launches Three Initiatives to Boost Economic Value
The Ministry of Industry has announced a new 20-million-baht program aimed at supporting 1,000 entrepreneurs, with an expected economic impact of over 209 million baht.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the Ministry of Industry has unveiled three major initiatives for the 2026 fiscal year, backed by a 20-million-baht budget approved by the Comptroller General's Department. Nattapol Rangsitpol, Permanent Secretary for Industry and Chairman of the SME Development Fund, stated that the program aims to enhance the capabilities of 400 businesses and 1,000 entrepreneurs.
The initiatives focus on financial strengthening, productivity improvements, and market expansion. These priorities were established based on a 2025 survey of entrepreneurs, which identified marketing (33.33%), finance (23.28%), and production technology/innovation (18.52%) as the most critical areas for development. The fund projects that these efforts will generate a total economic value of 209.56 million baht, representing a return of 10.48 times the initial investment.
For residents and expatriates, this development signals a government push to modernize the local business landscape, which may lead to a more diverse range of services and products in the Thai market. While the program is set to support 400 businesses, the specific timeline for the rollout of these individual projects and the criteria for business selection remain to be confirmed by the Ministry of Industry.
