Heavy Rainfall Causes Flooding in Buriram Province
Persistent heavy rain has led to road flooding and agricultural damage in Buriram, impacting travel between Nang Rong and Lahan Sai districts.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on September 16, 2026, continuous heavy rainfall has caused significant flooding in Buriram Province. A 200-meter stretch of the road connecting Nong Sai Subdistrict in Nang Rong District to Khok Wan in Lahan Sai District is currently submerged under 30 centimeters of water. This accumulation has made the route difficult to navigate, particularly for smaller vehicles.
Beyond the impact on local transport, the flooding has extended into agricultural areas, submerging over 100 rai of rice fields. Local residents, including villager La-ong Prapai, noted that the water originated from the Non Din Daeng area, flowing through Lahan Sai. There is significant concern regarding the duration of the inundation; it is estimated that if further rain occurs, the water could remain stagnant for at least one week. This prolonged exposure poses a high risk of rot and severe damage to the rice crops.
For travelers and residents in the area, this situation necessitates caution when navigating local roads. While the immediate impact on road accessibility is clear, the long-term agricultural consequences remain subject to weather conditions over the coming days. Authorities have not yet provided a timeline for when the water levels are expected to recede.
