Bangkok Authorities Inspect Khao San Road Venues Following Safety Review

On September 16, 2026, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt met with business operators and community representatives from the Khao San and Rambuttri road areas to discuss regulatory compliance and public safety. This initiative follows a fire at a brewery in Lat Phrao last July, which prompted the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to intensify safety oversight across the city.

According to Khaosod Online Thailand, officials inspected 42 establishments in the area. The audit revealed that only four venues currently hold full, valid operating licenses. Among the remaining 38 establishments, five possess music licenses, 25 have food service permits, and eight operate without either. Consequently, the BMA has ordered the closure of venues that fail to meet established safety and legal criteria. Operators have been instructed to improve safety measures to align with the specific conditions of their premises.
