Residents in Samut Sakhon Urge Repairs to Irrigation Pumps Ahead of Heavy Rains
Local residents and officials in Ban Phaeo district are calling for urgent repairs to malfunctioning water pumps at two key irrigation canals to prevent potential flooding.
On September 16, 2026, local community leaders and officials from the Lak Ha Subdistrict Municipality, along with representatives from the Damnoen Saduak Operation and Maintenance Project, inspected the irrigation gates at Khlong Di 4 and Khlong Di 3 in Rong Khe subdistrict, Samut Sakhon province. The inspection revealed that both drainage systems are currently malfunctioning, rendering the water pumps inoperable. Specifically, the Khlong Di 4 gate system has suffered a total failure, causing all four of its pumps to stop working.
For residents and those visiting the area, this situation is a significant concern. The community fears that if these pumps are not repaired promptly, upcoming heavy rainfall could lead to severe flooding, potentially damaging homes and local agricultural gardens. The inability to manage water levels effectively poses a direct threat to the property and livelihoods of those living near these canals.
While local authorities have been alerted and have visited the site to assess the damage, it remains to be confirmed when the Irrigation Office 13 will complete the necessary repairs. Residents are currently waiting for a clear timeline on when the pumping capacity will be restored to ensure the area is prepared for the rainy season.
