Thai Cinema Debuts First 270-Degree Panoramic Screening
M STUDIO and Channel 3 have partnered with South Korea’s CJ 4DPLEX to bring the film 'Death Whisperer 2' to the immersive SCREENX format.
According to Khaosod Online, M STUDIO and Channel 3 have collaborated with South Korean firm CJ 4DPLEX to introduce the SCREENX cinematic experience to Thailand. The horror film 'Death Whisperer 2' (Thi Yod: Saming Khao Khwang) has been selected as the first Thai production to be presented in this 270-degree panoramic format.
Surachet Assawaruenganun, CEO of M STUDIO, stated that this initiative aims to elevate Thai cinema to international standards by utilizing advanced projection technology. Unlike traditional theaters that project only onto a front screen, SCREENX extends the visuals onto the left and right walls of the auditorium. This creates an immersive environment intended to make viewers feel as though they are physically present within the film's setting.
For residents and travelers in Thailand, this development represents a significant shift in local entertainment options, offering a more sensory-rich way to experience domestic films. While this marks a milestone for the Thai film industry, it remains to be confirmed which future titles will receive similar treatment or if this technology will be expanded to additional cinema locations across the country.
