Fatal Shooting in Phetchaburi: Relative Surrenders to Police
A 39-year-old man has surrendered to authorities in Phetchaburi after allegedly shooting and killing his relative in a rice field.
On September 16, 2026, a fatal shooting occurred in a rice field in Ban Han Taphao, Nong Chok sub-district, Tha Yang district, Phetchaburi province. According to Khaosod Online, the victim was identified as 50-year-old Wanchat, a former postal worker.
Later that afternoon, 39-year-old Bam-phen, a relative of the deceased, surrendered to the Phetchaburi Provincial Police investigation division. He subsequently led officers to the location where he had discarded the firearm used in the incident.
Bam-phen stated that he and the victim had been involved in a verbal altercation three to four days prior to the shooting. He claimed that on the day of the incident, while he was working in the rice field, the victim arrived on a motorcycle and initiated another confrontation. Bam-phen alleged that he acted in response to this provocation by using a handgun he was carrying.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights a localized dispute between individuals known to each other. While the suspect is in custody, the Phetchaburi police are continuing their investigation to verify the details of the confrontation and the sequence of events.
