Cargill Invests 2 Billion Baht to Expand Thai Poultry Production
Cargill is investing 2 billion baht to upgrade its Thai poultry processing facilities, aiming to strengthen Thailand's position as a global hub for cooked chicken products.
According to Khaosod Online, Cargill has announced a 2 billion baht (approximately 60 million USD) investment to expand its poultry business operations in Thailand. Watcharapol Prasopkiatpoka, Vice President and Managing Director of Cargill’s Asia Pacific poultry business, stated that this initiative is designed to meet the rising global demand for high-quality protein.
The investment focuses on enhancing supply chain efficiency, food safety standards, and innovation. A key component of this project is the installation of a new automated cooked chicken production line at the company’s facility in Saraburi province, which is expected to be completed by 2028. Over the next two years, the company plans to integrate advanced technology and artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations to improve decision-making and cost management.
For residents and visitors, this development underscores Thailand’s growing role as a "Food Hub for the World." While the expansion aims to bolster the local economy and support the global food service and retail sectors, the specific impact on local consumer prices or immediate job market shifts remains to be confirmed. The project aligns with government policies to promote Thailand as a global food production center, though the full operational capacity of the new automated systems will only be realized upon the project's completion in 2028.
