Police Search Underway for Escaped Prisoner on Koh Samui
Authorities are searching for a male prisoner who escaped custody while being transported to the Koh Samui Provincial Court.
On September 16, 2026, a male prisoner facing assault charges escaped from police custody while being transported to the Koh Samui Provincial Court in Surat Thani province. According to reports from Khaosod Online, the individual managed to pick his handcuffs and fled near the area behind the court, which connects to the Koh Samui Municipality landfill in Maret sub-district.
The Bo Phut Police Station has released a description of the suspect: a Thai male, approximately 26 years old, 175 centimeters tall, with a thin build and dark-reddish skin. He was last seen with long hair, wearing long jeans and no shirt. Police have initiated a search operation and are currently surrounding the area to apprehend the fugitive.
