According to a report by Thai Post on September 16, 2026, opposition Member of Parliament Natcha Boonchaiinsawat has criticized the government’s current strategy for managing the blackchin tilapia outbreak. Natcha characterized the establishment of a dedicated government center to address the invasive species as a mere performance, arguing that the situation remains dire for local farmers who are struggling to contain the spread.

Natcha has proposed a four-tiered management strategy—categorized by red, yellow, white, and green measures—to tackle the crisis more effectively. He issued a stern warning that if significant progress is not achieved within a three-month timeframe, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives should be replaced.
