Sansai Wittayakhom School Competes in Prime Minister’s Youth Cup Volleyball
Sansai Wittayakhom School in Chiang Mai is fielding both boys' and girls' volleyball teams in the U15 Prime Minister’s Youth Cup, aiming to represent the province.
According to Khaosod Online, Sansai Wittayakhom School in Chiang Mai’s Sansai District has entered both its boys' and girls' volleyball teams into the U15 'Prime Minister’s Youth Cup' (PMYC). The tournament, supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, is designed to provide a pathway for youth athletes to potentially reach the national team level.
The teams are coached by physical education teachers known as 'Coach Ed' and 'Coach Amp.' Despite having been formed only about a year ago, the squads have shown competitive promise; the boys' team previously secured a runner-up position in a Chiang Mai provincial volleyball development tournament. The school is currently competing to earn the spot as the official representative for Chiang Mai province in the broader regional and national championship stages.
For residents and visitors, this event highlights the grassroots sports development initiatives currently active in Northern Thailand. While the school has demonstrated strong local performance, it remains to be confirmed whether they will successfully secure the provincial representative title to advance to the regional rounds. The PMYC program continues to organize competitions across various districts, reflecting the government's ongoing efforts to promote youth athletics in the region.
