Skeletal Remains Discovered in Abandoned Chiang Mai Home
Authorities in Chiang Mai are investigating the discovery of a skeleton found inside a long-abandoned house during a property inspection.
On September 15, 2026, police from the Mae Ping Station in Chiang Mai were alerted to the discovery of human remains at a residence in San Phi Suea sub-district. According to Khaosod Online, the discovery occurred when individuals arrived to inspect the property, which had been subject to a foreclosure process. Upon entering the two-story wooden house, which had been abandoned for several years, they found a skeleton lying on a bed under a mosquito net.
Local residents reported that the house was previously occupied by a woman named Sriwan and her son, known as 'Tee.' Neighbors stated they had not seen the pair for approximately five to six years. At that time, it was widely believed that the bank had seized the property and that the residents had relocated to live with relatives in the city, which prevented further suspicion regarding their absence.
Forensic experts from Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital have taken the remains for a detailed examination. The investigation is currently focused on confirming the identity of the deceased and determining the cause of death. Authorities are also working to locate surviving relatives. For residents and visitors, this incident highlights the importance of property management and community awareness, though it remains an isolated case.
