Thailand Announces Temporary Diesel Price Reduction
The Energy Policy Administration Committee has mandated a 4-baht per liter reduction in refinery-gate diesel prices from September 16 to October 31, 2026.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Energy Policy Administration Committee (EPAC) has officially announced a reduction in the refinery-gate price of high-speed diesel by 4.00 baht per liter. This measure, published in the Royal Gazette on September 15, 2026, is effective from September 16 through October 31, 2026.
The decision follows the committee's meeting on September 14, 2026, and is rooted in the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Authorities noted that these conflicts continue to disrupt global crude and refined oil supplies, leading to significant price volatility within Thailand. The government is implementing this price adjustment under the 1993 Emergency Decree on the Prevention and Mitigation of Fuel Shortages to stabilize the domestic market.
For residents and travelers, this policy aims to mitigate the impact of global energy fluctuations on local fuel costs. While this reduction targets refinery-gate prices, it is intended to help manage domestic fuel availability and pricing stability. It remains to be confirmed how this adjustment will translate into final retail prices at individual service stations across the country, as market conditions and distribution costs may vary. Travelers should monitor local fuel pump prices as they navigate the country during this period.
