Community and Police Launch Anti-Drug Initiative in Phet Phra Ram and Rong Pun
Local residents and the Metropolitan Police Bureau have partnered to implement a sustainable drug-free community project in the Phet Phra Ram and Rong Pun areas.
On September 15, 2026, representatives from the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) and local community members gathered at the Phet Phra Ram community hall to advance the 'Sustainable Subdistrict Project for Comprehensive Drug Problem Resolution.' According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the initiative aims to transform the Phet Phra Ram and Rong Pun (South) neighborhoods into 'white communities'—a designation indicating they are free from illicit drugs.
Key officials, including Deputy Commissioner of the MPB Police Major General Teeradej Thumsuthee and representatives from the Makkasan Police Station, Huai Khwang District Office, and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, participated in the event. The meeting focused on facilitating the reintegration of individuals who have completed drug rehabilitation programs back into society. Beyond policy discussions, the event included the distribution of essential supplies to residents.
For residents and visitors, this initiative represents an ongoing effort by local authorities to improve neighborhood safety and social stability in these specific areas of Bangkok.
