TAT Promotes 'Thailand Beyond the Familiar' in Norway

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) hosted a networking event in Oslo to strengthen tourism ties and showcase new travel products to the Norwegian market.

On September 8, 2026, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) held the 'Thailand Networking Trade & Media' event at the Sommerro Hotel in Oslo, Norway. According to Khaosod Online, the initiative, titled 'Thailand Beyond the Familiar,' aimed to connect with 50 local tourism operators and media representatives to update them on the current state of Thai tourism and present new travel products and services.

The event featured key figures from the TAT, including Jirawadee Kunsub, Deputy Governor for Europe, America, Middle East, and Africa, who outlined the strategic direction for long-haul market promotion. Additionally, Patsalin Svetarat, Director of the TAT Stockholm Office, presented specific tourism products tailored to the Norwegian market. The event was also attended by Chaturon Phakdeewanit, Director-General of the Department of Tourism, and General Suphamanas Pharaphob, a subcommittee member for performance evaluation.

For travelers and residents, this event signals a concerted effort by Thai authorities to diversify tourism offerings beyond traditional destinations and convert interest into actual travel bookings. While the event successfully established a platform for networking and information exchange, the long-term impact on visitor numbers from Norway remains to be seen. Future developments will depend on how effectively these new travel products are integrated into the offerings of Norwegian tour operators.
