Motorcyclist Arrested at Bangkok Emission Checkpoint for Illegal Firearm Possession
A 40-year-old man was apprehended by traffic police at a black smoke inspection point in Bangkok after officers discovered he was carrying an unregistered firearm.
On September 15, 2026, traffic police officers from Division 5 of the Traffic Police Division conducted a routine vehicle emission inspection on Nimit Mai Road 61 (outbound) in the Khlong Sam Wa district of Bangkok. During the operation, officers stopped a 40-year-old man, identified as Mr. Konlayut, who was riding a white and black Honda Sonic 125 motorcycle.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the inspection led to the discovery of a firearm in the suspect's possession. Upon questioning, the individual claimed that he carried the weapon for self-defense purposes. Following the discovery, the suspect was taken into custody by the authorities present at the checkpoint.
