Khun Thong Residents Face Long-Term Road Infrastructure Challenges

Residents in the Khun Thong sub-district of Bua Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima, have raised concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of local roads. According to reports from Khaosod Online, the thoroughfares have been plagued by deep potholes for an extended period, creating significant difficulties for daily travel and raising fears of potential accidents involving loss of life or property.

Sompong Phongperm, the Chief of the Khun Thong Sub-district Administrative Organization (SAO), addressed the situation by explaining that the road was previously under the jurisdiction of the Office of Accelerated Rural Development. Upon taking office, local officials attempted to coordinate with various agencies to secure maintenance, only to discover that the road currently falls under the responsibility of the Khun Thong SAO.

Technical staff have conducted an initial survey of the damage; however, the SAO currently lacks the necessary budget to perform comprehensive repairs. Officials have requested that residents remain patient, as the organization is waiting for subsidy allocations for the 2028 fiscal year. While the SAO is exploring preliminary measures to mitigate the issue, the timeline for full restoration remains dependent on future funding. For residents and visitors, this means navigating these routes requires increased caution until further notice.
