Thai Cycling Association Targets 2028 Olympic Qualification
Following the 20th Asian Games, the Thai Cycling Association is launching an international campaign to secure Olympic ranking points for the 2028 Games.
According to Khaosod Online, General Decha Hemkrasri, President of the Thai Cycling Association, has announced a strategic plan to send national cyclists to various international competitions immediately following the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. The primary objective of this campaign is to accumulate sufficient ranking points for qualification into the 2028 Olympic Games in the United States.
The association is focusing on road, track, and BMX racing disciplines. As part of this initiative, Thai-French cyclist Arthit Pollard is scheduled to travel to Montreal, Canada, to compete in the 2026 UCI Road World Championships following his participation in the Asian Games time trial event on September 20. He will be joined by Thai-American cyclist Judah Thompson, who will compete in the men’s under-23 category, and Major Chanpeng Nontasin, who will represent Thailand in the women’s elite category, replacing Phitthayaphon Saetun.
For residents and travelers, this news highlights the increased international visibility of Thai athletes in the cycling circuit.
