Construction Begins on World’s Tallest Luang Phor Chuea Statue in Chai Nat
A groundbreaking ceremony was held for a 54-meter-tall Luang Phor Chuea statue at Wat Mai Bamphen Bun in Chai Nat province.
On September 15, 2026, local officials and community members gathered at Wat Mai Bamphen Bun in the Huai Krot sub-district of Sapphaya district, Chai Nat, to participate in a consecration ceremony for the head of a new Luang Phor Chuea statue. According to Khaosod Online, the project aims to construct a 54-meter-tall image, which organizers claim will be the largest of its kind in the world.
The ceremony was led by the temple’s abbot, Phra Khru Wichai Bunyakom, and attended by Chai Nat Governor Phumwat Udomsap, along with representatives from local government and tourism organizations. The event drew a significant crowd of devotees, with traditional rituals including the firing of 10,000 firecrackers to mark the occasion. The ceremony also served as a fundraising event, with donations totaling 850,308 baht.
For travelers and residents, this site is expected to become a notable cultural landmark in Chai Nat once completed.
