Thailand Issues Landslide and Flash Flood Warning for 17 Provinces

On September 15, 2026, the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued an urgent warning for 17 provinces across Thailand. The alert follows continuous heavy rainfall, which has increased the risk of landslides and flash floods in vulnerable areas.
The provinces identified as high-risk include Tak, Mae Hong Son, Uttaradit, Nakhon Sawan, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Sukhothai, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chanthaburi, Trat, Loei, Krabi, and Ranong. Authorities have ordered local officials to monitor the situation closely and remain prepared for emergency responses.
According to the Thai Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rain is expected to persist, particularly in the lower North, Northeast, Central, and Eastern regions. Residents and travelers in these areas are advised to exercise extreme caution, especially those located near foothills, natural waterways, and low-lying areas, as accumulated rainfall may trigger sudden flooding or mudslides.
While the DMR has identified these specific provinces as being at risk, the exact timing and severity of potential incidents remain dependent on localized weather patterns.
