Thailand to Finalize Data Center Regulations Within One Month
The National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) plans to establish clear regulatory guidelines for data centers within 30 days to mitigate environmental and community impacts.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), has announced that the Thai government will finalize regulatory criteria for data centers within one month. The agency has already gathered data on 90% of existing projects and is currently working to refine operational conditions.
For residents and travelers, this development is significant as the government aims to prevent the clustering of data centers in specific areas, which could otherwise strain local infrastructure or impact surrounding environments. While the government currently lacks the legal authority to halt projects that have already commenced construction, officials are prioritizing the creation of regulations that will allow private operators to adjust their designs to meet new standards.
