Grand Asset Hotels & Property Defaults on Interest Payments

Grand Asset Hotels & Property has missed interest payments totaling 22.5 million baht across three bond series, citing liquidity issues.

According to a report by Prachachat Business, Grand Asset Hotels & Property has officially defaulted on interest payments for three of its bond series, amounting to a total of 22.5 million baht. The company attributed this financial shortfall to a sluggish real estate market, which hindered its ability to generate sufficient liquidity. Furthermore, the firm noted that planned asset divestments and the procurement of new credit facilities have experienced delays, preventing them from meeting the scheduled payment deadlines.

In response to the default, the company has requested a 15-day extension to settle the outstanding interest, along with the applicable default interest charges.

For residents and travelers, this development highlights ongoing volatility within the Thai property and hospitality sector. While the company is currently working to secure the necessary funds to rectify the situation, the situation serves as a reminder of the broader economic pressures currently affecting some developers in the country. It remains to be confirmed whether the company will successfully secure the required capital within the proposed 15-day window or if further financial restructuring will be necessary. Stakeholders are advised to monitor official disclosures from the company for updates regarding their debt obligations.
