The incident involved a head-on collision between two public passenger vans, followed by an SUV crashing into the wreckage on a major highway between Prince Albert and Leeu-Gamka, approximately 380 kilometers east of Cape Town.
Police authorities confirmed that 18 individuals died at the scene, while three others succumbed to their injuries after being transported to a hospital. Additionally, four people remain in critical condition.
