People's Party Files Legal Action Against Election Commission Over Senate Selection Case
The People's Party has initiated legal proceedings against the Election Commission of Thailand, alleging bias in the handling of the Senate selection scandal.
On September 14, 2026, Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, leader of the People's Party and opposition leader, announced that his party is pursuing legal action under Section 157 of the Criminal Code against the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT). The move follows the ECT’s recent decision to prosecute 77 individuals involved in the controversial Senate selection process, which includes 26 currently serving senators.
The People's Party alleges that the Election Commission acted with partiality by failing to adequately investigate the Bhumjaithai Party in connection with the case.
