Chery Group Introduces REEV Technology to Thailand

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Chery Group is expanding its presence in the Thai automotive market by introducing Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology. This system utilizes a 100% electric motor for propulsion, paired with a small internal combustion engine that functions as an onboard generator to charge the battery while driving.

For residents and travelers in Thailand, this technology aims to bridge the gap between traditional internal combustion engines and fully electric vehicles. By generating electricity on the go, REEV vehicles are designed to travel longer distances than standard battery-electric vehicles, potentially alleviating concerns about the availability of charging stations during long-distance travel. The company emphasizes that this provides the quiet, responsive driving experience of an electric car without the limitations typically associated with battery range.

Chery Group notes that it has been developing REEV technology since 2010, starting with the Chery S18D model in China, and has since expanded the technology across various vehicle segments.
