TAT Launches 'Nihao Month 2026' to Boost Chinese Tourism
The Tourism Authority of Thailand has initiated the third annual 'Nihao Month' campaign to attract Chinese visitors during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and Golden Week.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has officially launched the 'Nihao Month 2026' project, marking the third consecutive year of this initiative. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool stated that the campaign aims to strengthen Thai-Chinese relations while capitalizing on the travel surge expected during the Mid-Autumn Festival and China’s National Day 'Golden Week.'
For travelers and residents, this initiative signals a concerted effort to position Thailand as a top-of-mind destination for Chinese tourists. The campaign focuses on encouraging longer stays and higher-value spending, with the goal of maintaining tourism momentum through the low season and into the Chinese New Year celebrations in early 2027. The project operates under the theme 'China and Thailand are siblings,' emphasizing cultural ties to enhance the visitor experience.
While the TAT is actively collaborating with partners to promote these travel experiences, the specific impact on visitor numbers remains to be confirmed. Travelers should note that while the campaign aims to improve the overall tourism experience, it does not alter existing immigration or visa regulations. The success of these promotional efforts in sustaining tourism growth beyond the Golden Week period will be monitored as the season progresses.
