Following the circulation of viral images showing mold growth on the ceilings of Phetchabun Hospital, the public has responded with significant support, donating over 2 million baht in a single night. Hospital administrators explained that the mold was caused by temperature differentials between the third and fourth floors, which created excess humidity in the ceiling cavity, a situation exacerbated by recent heavy rainfall.

Beyond the immediate maintenance issue, the hospital’s director acknowledged that the facility has faced a historical deficit of 170 million baht. Furthermore, the hospital is currently managing structural concerns; the 50-year-old special building sustained cracks and partial subsidence during a recent earthquake. Consequently, plans are in place to demolish older structures and replace them with new facilities. To maintain services during this transition, the hospital is relocating patient wards and treatment areas to other buildings.
