Thailand Unveils Three-Pillar Energy Strategy and Solar Rooftop Initiative

At the Gastech 2026 event held at BITEC Bangkok, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul outlined a three-pillar strategy aimed at balancing energy security with sustainability. According to Khaosod Online, the government intends to maintain affordable energy prices for households and businesses while transitioning toward cleaner power sources.

Central to this plan is a 50-billion-baht solar rooftop initiative, scheduled to commence in mid-October. The Prime Minister emphasized that natural gas will remain a foundational element of Thailand’s power grid to ensure stability as the country integrates more renewable energy. This policy shift is driven by the rising electricity demands from AI, cloud services, and data centers, which are increasingly vital to the national economy.
