Major 'Laughing Gas' Factory Raided in Bangkok
Thai authorities have dismantled a large-scale illegal nitrous oxide filling facility in Bangkok, seizing over 1,600 canisters intended for distribution to tourist hotspots.
On September 14, 2026, a joint operation involving the Metropolitan Police Bureau and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided a warehouse in the Prawet district of Bangkok. According to Khaosod Online, the facility was allegedly operating as a major hub for filling nitrous oxide, commonly known as 'laughing gas,' into small canisters for nationwide distribution.
Authorities seized 1,652 filled canisters and approximately 72,000 kilograms of gas, including bulk storage and transport equipment. Police officials described the site as potentially the largest illegal nitrous oxide filling operation discovered in Thailand to date. The investigation revealed that the products were being supplied to various major tourist destinations across the country.
For residents and travelers, this raid highlights ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to curb the illicit trade of substances often misused in nightlife and entertainment areas. While the immediate supply chain has been disrupted, officials are currently working to expand the investigation to identify the broader network involved in the distribution.
