New Medical Facilities Under Construction at Somdet Phra Sangharaja Hospital
The Supreme Patriarch presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony for two new buildings at Somdet Phra Sangharaja Hospital in Ratchaburi, attended by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
On September 5, 2026, His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch visited Somdet Phra Sangharaja (Amparamahathera) Hospital in Damnoen Saduak District, Ratchaburi Province, to preside over a Buddhist prayer ceremony and the foundation stone laying for two new structures: the Chalong Sattawat Building and the Phiphat Sattawat Building. These facilities are part of an expansion project aimed at enhancing medical examination, health promotion, and rehabilitation services.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul served as the lay chairman for the ceremony, accompanied by Minister of Public Health Phatthana Phromphat, government officials, and medical staff. Originally known as Damnoen Saduak Hospital, the facility has served the local community for over 60 years. The expansion is a response to the rising number of elderly patients and individuals with chronic conditions, as well as existing spatial limitations at the current site.
For residents and long-term visitors in the Ratchaburi area, this development signifies a long-term commitment to improving local healthcare infrastructure. While the ceremony marks the official commencement of the construction phase, specific timelines regarding the completion of the buildings and the exact date they will become fully operational for public use remain to be confirmed by the Ministry of Public Health.
