EXAT Announces Phuket Expressway and Kathu-Patong Tunnel Project

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) has announced a major infrastructure initiative aimed at improving connectivity in Phuket. According to a report by Thai Post, the project involves a two-phase expressway development with a total budget of 84 billion baht. A central component of this plan is the construction of a tunnel connecting Kathu and Patong.

EXAT has set a target to begin construction in 2027. Once completed, the project is expected to significantly reduce travel time between these two popular areas to approximately five minutes.
