GSB Launches New Loan Scheme for Small Merchants
The Government Savings Bank (GSB) is introducing a new loan product for small-scale vendors, utilizing digital transaction data to facilitate access to capital.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, the Government Savings Bank (GSB) is set to launch a new loan initiative titled 'GSB QR Maha Heng X Nok Krasib' on September 24, 2026. This program is part of the Ministry of Finance’s 'Thai Chuay Thai Plus' policy, aimed at supporting small-scale merchants and vendors.
The initiative is designed to assist entrepreneurs who may lack formal financial statements or accounting documentation. Instead, the bank will utilize the 'Nok Krasib' AI system to analyze real-time sales data and payment history processed through the 'Thung Ngern' application. This approach allows the bank to evaluate creditworthiness based on actual cash flow and business activity.
For residents and expatriates operating small businesses in Thailand, this development may provide a more accessible pathway to securing working capital for inventory or operational expenses. By establishing a formal credit history through this program, participants may also improve their eligibility for larger financial services in the future.
While the registration date is confirmed for September 24, 2026, specific interest rates and the full range of eligibility criteria beyond the use of the 'Thung Ngern' app remain to be detailed by the bank. Interested parties should monitor official GSB announcements for further instructions on the application process.
