On the evening of September 13, 2026, a significant fire broke out at the Ban Phaeo Hospital (Public Organization) in Samut Sakhon province. According to reports from Khaosod Online, the blaze originated on the ground floor (G-floor) of the Chalerm Phra Kiat building, specifically within the physical therapy center. The fire caused extensive damage, affecting approximately 90% of the ground floor area.
Emergency response teams, including local fire departments, rescue foundations, and neighboring hospitals, were quickly mobilized to contain the flames and ensure the safety of those inside. Hospital staff successfully evacuated approximately 40 patients from the third floor to a designated reception building. Deputy Minister of Interior Jedsad Thai-ngam visited the site to oversee the situation and confirmed that all patients were safely accounted for, with no injuries reported.
Preliminary assessments by authorities suggest that the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit in an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) unit. While the immediate danger has been neutralized, the hospital is currently managing the aftermath of the incident.
