A baby boy born in Shenzhen at just 23 weeks and 4 days has been discharged after a 105-day recovery, growing from 330 grams to 2.5 kilograms.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a medical milestone has been recorded in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, where a premature infant survived after being born at only 23 weeks and 4 days of gestation. Weighing just 330 grams at birth—roughly the size of an adult's palm—the infant, nicknamed "Xiao Ze Bao," was identified as the lowest-birth-weight premature baby in the province.
Medical staff noted that the infant’s skin was extremely thin, revealing underlying blood vessels, and his digestive system was underdeveloped. He was immediately placed in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for specialized, round-the-clock monitoring. Over the course of 105 days, the medical team provided intensive support to stabilize his immune and digestive systems. By September 1, 2026, the infant had reached a weight of 2.5 kilograms and was cleared to return home.
