Sukhothai’s 'Baan Lan Thong' Model Promotes Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on September 13, 2026, the 'Baan Lan Thong' model in Sukhothai’s Ban Dan Lan Hoi district has been highlighted as a successful example of community-based drug rehabilitation (CBTx). The project, supported by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) and the Institute for Learning Development and Foundation, focuses on shifting societal perspectives from viewing drug users as criminals to seeing them as individuals in need of opportunity.

Local officials, including the district chief and public health representatives, recently visited the village to observe the program's progress. The initiative emphasizes physical and mental recovery through close cooperation between local leaders, community members, and support networks. By reducing social stigma and providing vocational training, the program aims to help recovering individuals reintegrate into society.
