Corruption Allegations in Phichit Water Gate Project
The NACC has identified corruption in a 4.4 million baht water gate repair project in Phichit, involving both state officials and private contractors.
On September 13, 2026, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) of Phichit announced findings regarding irregularities in the renovation of the Dong Setthi water gate in Yan Yao sub-district. According to Khaosod Online, the Office of Water Resources Region 9 contracted a private firm for the project on November 30, 2019, with a budget of 4,484,000 baht. The project was officially completed and paid in full.
However, NACC investigations revealed that the existing overhead crane beams were already in good condition and did not require replacement. Despite this, the project documentation included charges for new beams. Furthermore, the contractor reportedly claimed to have received only 1.4 million baht for the work, despite the full budget being disbursed. Acting Director of NACC Phichit, Thanaporn Taengchan, stated that the commission has officially indicted the involved state officials and private parties for corruption.
