The Second Army Area has launched an investigation following the discovery of a 20-year-old soldier who died by suicide within the Suratham Phithak military camp in Nakhon Ratchasima.
On September 13, 2026, Khaosod Online reported that the Second Army Area is investigating the death of a 20-year-old conscript, identified as Private Thitikorn, at the Suratham Phithak military camp in Nakhon Ratchasima province. According to the official statement, the soldier’s body was discovered on September 12, 2026, at approximately 1:30 PM by personnel from the 23rd Artillery Battalion who were foraging in a wooded area behind the 3rd Medical Battalion’s coffee shop.
Preliminary reports indicate that the soldier had been on authorized leave and failed to return to his unit upon its expiration. While the soldier had reportedly informed his family that he had returned to the camp, his body was subsequently found on military grounds. The military has since coordinated with local police and forensic investigators to process the scene and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
