According to a statement released by the hospital on September 13, 2026, the child had been receiving treatment for respiratory and gastrointestinal infections since September 2.

As the patient was being prepared for discharge on September 11, a nursing assistant attempted to remove the IV line using medical scissors. During this procedure, the staff member accidentally cut off the tip of the child’s right index finger. The hospital reported that they immediately provided emergency care, involving pediatric, surgical, and orthopedic specialists. The child was subsequently transferred to Sunpasitthiprasong Hospital to receive specialized care from plastic surgeons.
