Ayutthaya Nightclub Raided for Illegal Operations and Drug Use
Authorities in Ayutthaya raided a nightclub for operating past legal hours and drug violations, leading to 20 arrests and a potential five-year closure order.
On September 13, 2026, at approximately 2:30 AM, officials from Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, conducted a surprise inspection of a local nightclub in Tambon Khan Ham. According to Khaosod Online, the operation involved a joint force of approximately 40 personnel, including district officials, provincial security officers, and local police. The raid was initiated following reports that the establishment was operating beyond legally permitted hours and was associated with illicit drug activity.
During the operation, authorities secured three entry and exit points to prevent patrons from leaving. While some individuals attempted to exit the premises, officials successfully contained the scene. Upon testing the nearly 200 patrons present, authorities identified 20 individuals—nine women and 11 men—who tested positive for narcotics.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights ongoing enforcement efforts regarding nightlife regulations and drug control in the province. The district administration is currently preparing a report to recommend that the provincial governor order a five-year closure of the venue. As of now, the final decision regarding the permanent closure remains pending official review by the governor.
