On September 13, 2026, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) released its 13th weather warning regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand. According to Khaosod Online, the alert covers 41 provinces, including Bangkok and its surrounding metropolitan area.
The weather system is driven by a combination of high-pressure air from China moving into the upper northern and northeastern regions, alongside a monsoon trough passing through the central, southern, and eastern parts of the country. Additionally, the TMD is monitoring a strong low-pressure cell off the coast of central Vietnam, which is expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone. This system is projected to move toward the upper coast of Vietnam between September 13 and 14, 2026.
