Yasothon Health Official Suspends Nursing Assistant After Infant Injury
A nursing assistant in Yasothon has been suspended following an incident where a one-year-old boy’s fingertip was severed during medical care.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, the Yasothon Provincial Public Health Office has suspended a male nursing assistant after he accidentally severed the tip of a one-year-old boy’s right index finger. The incident occurred while the assistant was using scissors to cut tape securing an IV line.
The child was immediately transferred to Sappasithiprasong Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani for emergency surgery by hand specialists. While the second surgery was reported as successful, the child remains under close medical observation to monitor for potential infection and blood circulation issues.
The mother has filed a formal complaint with the Yasothon City Police. Authorities are currently gathering evidence and awaiting medical reports before summoning the nursing assistant for questioning. The police are preparing to charge the individual with negligence causing serious bodily harm.
